How are you all? Jack and I are relaxing in the living room, listening to radio. Well, Jack may not be listening, but dream of a bone. The house is in good shape but there is a mountain of laundry that still needs to be tidied away. Later. Our Christmas tree is standing proud in the usual corner in our living room. I sometimes think we should place it in the bay window but this would require too much furniture shifting. Taking a photo of the tree proves rather difficult. The lighting at this time of year is not great and the lights on the tree seem to mess with the light measuring thingamajig of the camera. It is a decorated with colourful glass and crochet baubles, and also some disco ball baubles. We have some drops and heart shaped baubles, and a few animals. Together with the remaining assorted random decorations it makes for a fun tree and I like it very much. It is a little lopsided but not enough to make me want to crawl under it and adjust the screws that hold it in place. Jack is now drinking from the tree holder and not his bowl.
I thought you might like to hear that Jack's friend Rudie is well after his funny turn. Test results have come back as normal and hopefully this was a one-off episode. Fingers crossed.
I also wanted to clarify the abuse at work I mentioned in my December.... ing post was not directed towards anyone in particular, it was just a classic few Nigel Farage inspired nuggets of "wisdom" thrown into the round. Nonetheless, if was a bit upsetting as I had only ever encountered such words on Twitter or other media outlets.
I am looking forward to seeing my mum shortly, and of course Sammy, too. They are travelling together. I checked on Flight Tracker, the plane is is on its approach to Edinburgh. Richard is picking them up. I am cooking a lentil soup for dinner. I'll make a green salad, too and there is lots of carrot cake for pudding. Annie was baking with a friend today. I licked out the bowl of icing and have got a sore tummy now. I never learn.
I finished my hexagon quilt and hope to take some photos when there is enough daylight. It is glorious and I am really happy with it. I haven't got anything else enjoyable on the go and may well have to start with the
Ice Cream Soda quilt.
I have still not bought a present for Richard. I know what to get and where, I just need to actually go out and buy it. I have only wrapped on other present so far. It is not something I enjoy doing but I do love to watch the kids tear the wrapping open and it is therefore well worth the effort. James's friend brought a present for James, and one for Annie and myself. I am rather touched by this and I am ashamed to admit that we have not managed to return the favour.
I'll be back before the big day to wish everyone a happy Christmas Day. In the meantime,
I hope you are enjoying the final days before Christmas. It feels a bit like a countdown, doesn't it? If you are travelling, please take care, the roads are always madly business at this time of year.
Time to tackle the laundry now....
Christina xx
